A very rare Boer War D.C.M., Great War M.M. group of six awarded to Sergeant J. P. Donnelly, East Yorkshire Regiment, killed in action in 1916

Distinguished Conduct Medal, V.R. (3269 Pte., E. York. Regt.); Military Medal, G.V.R. (17469 A./Cpl., 1/E. York. R.) surname spelt ‘Donnolly’ on this medal; Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill (3269 Pte., 2: E. York. Regt.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (3269 Pte., E. York. Regt.) surname spelt ‘Donnealey’ on this medal; British War and Victory Medals (17469 Sjt., E. York. Regt.) all somewhat worn from polishing and with edge bruising, otherwise generally nearly very fine and probably a unique combination (6) £2000-2500

Sergeant James Phillip Donnelly was born in Battersea, Middlesex and lived at North Kensington. He was killed in action in France and Flanders on 25 September 1916 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment.
