A St Nazaire D.S.C. group of six attributed to Probationary Temporary Surgeon Lieutenant Johnstone Dickie, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, H.M.S. Atherstone

Distinguished Service Cross, G.VI.R., the reverse dated 1942, and additionally inscribed ‘Johnstone Dickie’; 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star; Defence & War Medals, mounted as worn, lacquered, otherwise good very fine (6) £400-500

D.S.C. London Gazette 21 May 1942: ‘For great gallantry, daring and skill in the attack on the German Naval Base at St Nazaire.’ Surgeon Lieutenant Dickie served aboard the Atherstone which was responsible for rescuing a great number of survivors, many of them very badly wounded, especially from the Motor Launches.
