1914-15 Star (11937 Pte., L’pool. R.); British War and Victory Medals (11937 Pte., L’pool. R.); Russian St George Medal for Bravery, 4th class, reverse officially numbered ‘165212’, edge officially impressed ‘11937 Pte., 1/Livpl. R.’; together with an erroneously issued 1914 Star named to ‘11937 Pte. C. Cain, 1/L’pool. R.’, generally good very fine or better (5) £200-250

George Caine was born and lived in Birmingham. He died of wounds in France and Flanders on 13 April 1915 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, Liverpool Regiment. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorate him under his real surname of ‘Edwards’, and note that ‘Caine’ was used by him as an alias.
