Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., 2nd issue with fixed suspension (C-Sjt. R. Burgess, Leic. R.) edge bruise, otherwise nearly extremely fine £100-120

M.S.M. announced in A.O. 205 of 1929. Only 32 Annuity M.S.M.s to the Leicestershire Regiment. Approximately 400 M.S.M.s of this type awarded.

Colour-Sergeant Burgess was later an Instructor with the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, Essex Regiment. He was recommended for the M.S.M. in July 1897 when he had 23 years 5 months service, including 14 years overseas. He is also entitled to the I.G.S. for Burma 1887-89 and L.S. & G.C..
