Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Egypt, Martinique, Guadaloupe (Joseph Hudson, 13th Foot) edge bruise, otherwise good very fine and rare £1000-1200

Ex Elson Collection 1963.

One officer and six other ranks of the 13th Foot received these three clasps. The only other regiments to receive this combination of clasps were the 25th Foot (one Surgeon, who also had 3 Peninsula clasps in addition, and 6 men), and the 90th Foot (9 men).

Joseph Hudson was born in the Parish of Kilbrogan, County Cork, and enlisted for the 13th Regiment at Naas in February 1800. He was discharged in May 1819, in consequence of being ‘worn out from length of service.
Was wounded in the left cheek at La Cale Mile, Lower Canada, while in action with the enemy the 30th of March 1814.’ Sold with copy discharge papers.
