Gunner Swinburn served with 4 Field Regiment R.A. in Northern Ireland and, as Lance-Bombardier, served on detachment in Dhofar with No. 11 “Cracker Battery”, an ad hoc unit made up from officers and men of several different Gunner units, from 6 May to 26 June 1964.
