Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Talana, Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, Laing’s Nek, Belfast (5948 Gnr. W. Bithell, A.B. R.H.A.) polished, otherwise nearly very fine £140-160

Gunner Bithell actually served with 67 Battery R.F.A. at Talana and in the Defence of Ladysmith, but was posted to A Battery R.H.A. after the siege was lifted. A Battery as a whole formed part of the relief force, so there are medals named to this battery for both the defence and relief of Ladysmith, though no one could qualify for both clasps.
