Patrick Kelly (Kelley on documents) was born at Rower, Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1820, and enlisted at Waterford in March 1840. He served in 2 Troop 3rd Brigade Bengal Horse Artilley during the Sutlej campaign, and also during the Punjab campaign at the battles of Chilianwala and Goojerat.
