Christopher (alias Charles) Richardson was born at Eagles Cliff, County Durham, in 1814, and enlisted at London in May 1835. He served with 3 Company 4 Battalion, Bengal Artillery, at the battle of Mahajpoor, and also during the Sutlej campaign, at the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshuhur and Sobraon.
