The Order of St. Michael and St. George, C.M.G., neck badge, silver-gilt and enamels; Military Cross, G.V.R.; 1914-15 Star (2.Lieut., E. York. R.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaf (Capt.); Netherlands, Order of Orange Nassau, Officer’s breast badge, gold and enamels, the last with some small enamel chips, otherwise good very fine (6) £1000-1200

Gervas Huxley was born on 6 April 1894, and educated at Rugby and Balliol College, Oxford. He served in France and Belgium from 28 December 1914 (despatches, M.C.); Secretary to the Publicity Committee, Empire Marketing Board 1926-32; Adviser to Minister of Information on publicity to and about the Empire and on relations with American Forces in the U.K. until 1945; Organizing Director and Vice-Chairman, Internationla Tea Market Expansion Board 1935-67; Hon. Adviser on public relations matters to Secretary of State for the Colonies 1947-63; Executive Committee, British Council 1953-64; Commissioner, National Parks Commission 1954-66. Created C.M.G. in 1954 and died on 2 April 1971.
