Miles John Stapylton served in France and Belgium from 5 August 1914 to November 1915 (mentioned in despatches London Gazette 17 February 1915). He was employed as Adjutant of the Remount Department at Calais, 15 May to 28 August 1915 and was awarded the O.B.E. for services during the war. See also Lot 417 for the medal awarded to his father.
