Five: Staff Sergeant H. McC. Murchie, South African Engineer Corps, late Royal Engineers and Natal Naval Corps, one of the few casualties of the Natal Rebellion in 1906

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, South Africa 1901 (6141 Corpl., R.E.); Natal 1906, 1 clasp, 1906 (Leading Seaman, Natal Naval Corps); 1914-15 Star (Sjt., S.A.E.C.); British War and bi-lingual Victory Medals (S/Sjt., S.A.E.C.) contact marks, otherwise very fine and a rare casualty (4) £250-300

Wounded at Ngudwini on 11 July 1906, the only casualty suffered by this unit, and one of only 39 officers and men wounded during the entire campaign.

Henry McColl Murchie attested at Durban on 20 August 1914 for the South African Engineer Corps, and served in German South-West Africa from 21 August 1914 to 6 August 1915. He was discharged the Service at Johannesburg on 31 March 1916.
