Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, Alexandria 11th July (Boy 1 Cl., H.M.S. “Superb”) the contemporary copy clasp loose on ribbon; Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, no clasp (P.O. H.M.S. Thetis); 1914-15 Star (114718 P.O. 1, R.N.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaf (P.O. 1, R.N.); The Royal Victorian Medal, Bronze, V.R.; Khedive’s Star 1882; French Croix de Guerre 1914-1917; Borough of Portsmouth Tribute Medal, silver and enamels, the reverse inscribed ‘South Africa 1900-1’ and hallmarked Birmingham 1900, together with his Bosun’s whistle and chain, very fine or better (9) £450-550

Thomas Stephens was born at Tunbridge Wells on 16 April 1865, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in November 1880. He received the Royal Victorian Medal in February 1901 when he was one of the Naval Guard of Honour at the funeral of Queen Victoria. He was mentioned in despatches in May 1919 and awarded the Croix de Guerre in April 1919. Sold with copy service record.
