Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, no clasp (Boy 1 Cl., H.M.S. Turquoise); China 1900, no clasp (P.O.1.Cl., H.M.S. Esk), Royal Victorian Medal, silver, unnamed as issued, crown suspension detached; Khedive’s Star 1884-6, pitting from star, otherwise generally nearly very fine (4) £250-300

Robert Gale, a native of Dorset enlisted into the Royal Navy on 24 September 1895. He served on a variety of ships, including H.M.S. Excellent at the time of Queen Victoria’s funeral, for which he was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal in February 1901. He was discharged from the Royal Navy, due to his being found to be medically unfit, on 16 August 1909. Sold with copied service papers.
