John Habershon was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, was a Scissor Smith by trade, and enlisted for the 45th Regiment at Sheffield in October 1837. He served overseas at Gibraltar for 1 year 9 months, at Monte Video for 10 months, and at the Cape of Good Hope for 12 years 7 months, including the Kaffir Wars of 1846-47 and 1853. He was finally discharged at Port Napier, Natal, on 14 March 1859. Sold with copy service papers.
