Chester Rifle Volunteers (1st Cheshire), a very scarce other ranks brass (originally blackened) shako/glengarry badge c1860-1878, a cross based on that of the Order of the Bath bears centrally a circle inscribed with the title ‘1st CHESHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS’ in the centre a Garb, on the top arm of the cross the Prince of Wales’s crest and motto; to-gether with a white metal other ranks glengarry badge to the same unit being a Garb on ground with a tri-part scroll at the base ‘CHESTER VOLUNTEER RIFLES’, very good overall condition (2) £80-120
