Seven officers and 128 other ranks of the 19th Hussars, were present at Abu Klea.

William Dodderidge Ellis was born in the town of Plymouth, Devononshire, sometime in 1849. He enlisted into the 19th Hussars on 26 June 1873, being discharged on 27 June 1901. At the time of his discharge his conduct and character were described as ‘exemplary.’ He received his Meritorious Service Medal, with £10 Annuity, on 8 January 1912. Sold with confirmation and seven pages of copied service papers.
