Thomas Moore was born at Chapel Brampton, Northamptonshire and attested for the 7th Hussars at Northampton on 10 July 1899, aged 22 years 10 months. He was promoted to Sergeant in December 1906, went to India in September 1911, and was promoted to Squadron Sergeant-Major in November 1914. His papers note that he suffered from Malaria in 1916 whilst stationed at Meerut. In November 1917 he joined the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force and received a shrapnel wound in the left buttock on 28 October 1918. He was mentioned in the despatch of Lt.-Genl. Sir W. R. Marshall on 7 December 1919. Sold with copy service papers and Medal Index Card.
