Approximately 184 medals issued with the combination of Relief of Mafeking, Elandslaagte and Defence of Ladysmith.

Sergeant William McGregor was a native of Weem, Scotland, and enlisted in the Imperial Light Horse in 1899. He earned his first four clasps as Hospital Sergeant with this unit before being discharged late in 1900. He volunteered for the Scottish Horse early in 1901 and was severely wounded at Moedewil on 30 September 1901, dying of his wounds on 2 October 1901.
