James Walker was born at Fishponds, Somerset, on 23 June 1863, and entered the Navy in June 1879. He served at Alexandria aboard Inflexible, and Monarch for service with the Naval Brigade on the Nile Expedition in 1884-85. He transferred to the Coast Guard in November 1890 and retired in the rank of Chief Officer in June 1919. He resided for many years in Ryde, Isle of Wight, and died there in January 1933. Sold with copy service papers and obituary.
