France, Paysans Croates, 1909, a bronze trial of the reverse of the plaque by R. Franges-Mihanovic for the SAMF, two Croat women in regional costume walking left, carrying strings of onions, the back stamped with the figure 3 five times in relief, 70 x 61mm (Coll. R. Marx 144; BM Acq. 1978-82, p.96, 13). Softly modelled, extremely fine and rare (£40-60)

Ex BDW 9 (699), where it was incorrectly stated that this was a trial for the obverse.

Robert Franges-Mihanovic (1872-1940), Hungarian sculptor, director of the Zagreb art school, had the distinction of being the only non-French artist to execute a work for the SAMF
