France, Personnages à l’Enterrement, c.1908, a uniface cast bronze medal by F.P. Niclausse, two standing male figures in profile, one holding an upturned furled umbrella, 100mm (BDM VIII, 96). An original cast, extremely fine and rare; with ring for suspension on the back (£180-220)

François Paul Niclausse (1879-1958) studied under Ponscarme. He exhibited similar plaques to this at the 1908 Paris Salon. In the mid-1970s the French Mint restruck some of Niclausse’s work
