United States of America, Woodrow Wilson, a large uniface cast bronze portrait plaque by J. Witterwulghe, half-length figure almost facing, wearing pince-nez glasses, name in exergue, 465 x 372mm (cf. Spink 17.vii.97, 166; cf. Bonhams 9.xii.97, 216). Tip of nose rubbed, otherwise very fine and rare; an excellent, expressive likeness of Wilson (£120-150)

Thomas Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924), 28th President of the United States, is best remembered for his legislative programme of domestic reforms, for guiding his country through the latter stages of World War I and for helping to establish the Treaty of Versailles, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919
