Jean Moulin, 1943, a bronze medal by M. Courbier, bust right, reverse hand holding the lower half of a broken sword, ORGANISATEUR DE LA RESISTANCE, 68mm (CGMP p.463). A perfect specimen, brilliant mint state (£30-40)

Jean Moulin (1899-1943), the imposing leader of an anti-Nazi Resistance network working closely with General Charles de Gaulle, was captured in June 1943, tortured by Klaus Barbie, the Gestapo leader in the Lyons region, and died of his wounds. The book Aubrac, Lyon 1943, published last year, claims that Moulin was captured after being betrayed by Raymond Aubrac, a double agent.

This medal was executed in 1948
