First Aerial Crossing of the South Atlantic, 1927, a bronze medal by Anie Mouroux, busts of Le Brix and Costes, reverse Breguet biplane above a map of the globe showing the route from Paris to Tokyo, 68mm (CGMP p.284; cf. Dieudonne Costes (1892-1973) and his navigator Joseph Le Brix made the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic on 14 October 1927. The 3,400km crossing from St Louis in Senegal to Natal in Brazil took 18 hours 5 minutes, being part of a world tour in which they left Paris on 10 October 1927 and returned on 14 April 1928, flying over 40,000km in their Breguet biplane, Nungesser-Coli
