France, Automobile-Club de France Founded, 1895, a plated bronze electrotype plaque by J.-B. Daniel-Dupuis, from the obverse of his Société d’Encouragement medal, semi-naked female sat in tricycle, right hand holding a torch and left hand on the tiller, named (Lockroy, Ministre de la Marine), 115 x 109mm (cf. PBE 95; cf. BM Acq. 1983-7, pl.39, 63). Extremely fine and extremely rare; in a contemporary (?) brown case (£200-250)

Edouard Simon, dit Lockroy (1840-1913), Ministre de la Marine 1895-6 and 1898-9. The Automobile-Club de France was founded in October 1895 by the Comte de Dion (the car manufacturer), Baron de Zuylen (who became its first president) and M. Paul Meyan
