A Second World War Normandy operations D.S.M. group of six awarded to Stoker 1st Class K. G. Leggott, Royal Navy, who was decorated for gallant deeds in Assault Group G2 off Gold Beach

Distinguished Service Medal, G.VI.R. (Sto. 1 K. G. Leggott, P/KX. 146954); 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star, clasp, France and Germany; Africa Star; Italy Star; War Medal 1939-45, all cleaned and lacquered, the first with edge bruising and polished, nearly very fine, the remainder rather better (6) £800-1000

D.S.M. London Gazette 14 November 1944:

‘For gallantry, skill, determination and undaunted devotion to duty during the landing of Allied Forces on the coast of Normandy.’

Kenneth George Leggott (1923-1992), who was from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, was serving in Assault Group G2 at the time of winning his D.S.M., which comprised the H.Q. ship H.M.S.
Kingsmill, four Landing Craft Infantry (L.C.I.), Large, and many L.C.I., Small, the whole charged with supporting the landings on Gold Beach.
