Five: Skipper R. T. Murray, Royal Naval Reserve

1914-15 Star (1542 S.A. R. T. Murray, 2 Hd., R.N.R.); British War and Victory Medals (S.A. 1542 R. T. Murray, Skr., R.N.R.); Defence and War Medals 1939-45, official correction to first initial on the Victory Medal, good very fine (5) £80-100

Richard Thompson Murray served in the Trawler Section of the Royal Naval Reserve and was appointed a Skipper in April 1917.

According to an accompanying letter and newspaper feature, his father had a share in a drifter called
Handsome, which served with the Dover Patrol, an interest inherited by the recipient - so he may have served in her during the 1939-45 War, when she became a fleet tender at Scapa.

He died at Buckie in Morayshire in May 1972.
