William Ralph Ambler was born in Warwick on 29 January 1889. A Carpenter & Joiner by Trade, he entered the Royal Marines. He served in the Balkan theatre of war but due to sickness was invalided from Gallipoli to Mudros and thence to England.
Transferred to the Royal Naval Divisional Engineers and thence the R.N.A.S. in September 1916.
Served with the Seaplane Defence Squadron at Dunkirk from September 1917.
With copied service papers and enamelled British Legion lapel badge.
