William Henry Godsiff was born in Donegal, Ireland on 1 February 1865. An Engine Hand by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 11 July 1884. Having attained the rating of Leading Stoker 1st Class in April 1893, he discharged and joined the R.F.R. in August 1904. He returned to the service in August 1914 with the rank of Stoker Petty Officer and served until March 1919. With copied service paper.
