Three: Captain W. O. Halpin, Royal Army Medical Corps, attached 4th Hussars, who died of wounds on 10 August 1918

1914 Star (Lieut., R.A.M.C.); British War and Victory Medals (Capt.); Memorial Plaque (William Oswald Halpin) extremely fine (4) £350-450

William Oswald Halpin was the son of W. O. and Anna Maria Halpin, of The Laurels, Foxrock, Co. Dublin. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin he qualified as B.A., M.D., M.B., B.Ch. and B.A.O. As a Lieutenant in the R.A.M.C. he entered France on 17 August 1914. As a Captain attached to the 4th (Queen’s Own) Hussars, he died of wounds on 10 Augsu 1918, aged 31 years. He was buried in the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery.

With Memorial Scroll named to ‘Capt. William Oswald Halpin, Royal Army Medical Corps’; slip to accompany the Memorial Plaque and slip to accompany the 1914 Star - this addressed to ‘Mrs Halpin, ‘The Larels’, Foxrock, Co. Dublin, Ireland’ these three papers mounted on card and now a little ragged.
