Three: Corporal T. Thorne, King’s Royal Rifle Corps, who died of wounds on 31 October 1914

Thomas Thorne was born in Lambeth, lived in Westminster and enlisted at Woolwich, Kent. Serving with the 2nd Battalion K.R.R.C. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. He died of wounds on 31 October 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. The medals, plaque and the original named memorial scroll are mounted in a wooden glass-fronted frame, 42 x 37cm.
