Three: Private A. H. Wright, 3rd South African Horse, late Transvaal Mounted Rifles

Natal 1906, 1 clasp, 1906 (Tpr., Transvaal Mtd. Rifles); British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Pte., 3rd S.A.H.) slight edge bruising and contact marks, very fine (3) £140-180

Alfred Henry Wright was born in Cleator, Cumberland. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for the 1st Bereden Brigade South African Horse on 19 February 1916, aged 34 years. On his attestation papers he declared that he had previously served three years in the Scottish Horse and three months in the Transvaal Mounted Rifles. In the Great War he served in the 1st Machine Gun Brigade, 3rd S.A.H. Was discharged on 27 March 1917 as being physically unfit for further war service.
