Francis E. Boffin enlisted in London on 9 August 1897, aged 21 years, 1 month. Served with the 2nd Battalion Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry in the Boer War. As a Private in the A.S.C. he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 September 1915. Later attained the rank of Corporal.
With South Africa 1900 Christmas Tin; a Christmas 1900 Post Card from F. E. Boffin to his mother; a card to Mrs R. Boffin, 172 Warrington Rd., North Kensington, London, from F. Boffin; a Description Card for Active Service; two ornate souvenir decorations; these together with the medals all mounted in an ornate gilt (damaged) glazed frame, approx. 656 x 566mm. Also with copied roll extracts for the Q.S.A. and K.S.A., m.i.c. and some other details.
