Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 3 clasps, Tel-El-Kebir, Suakin 1885, Tofrek (J. Brown, Pte., R.M.); Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension (John Brown, Pte No. 1088 Po. R.M.L.I.) impressed naming; Khedive’s Star, 1882, unnamed, edge bruising, heavy pitting, good fine (3) £400-450

John Brown was born on 14 August 1855 at Cavendish, Sudbury, Suffolk. He enlisted into the Royal Marines on 5 March 1885. Served on the Northumberland prior to landing and seeing service at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir. Later returned to Egypt with the R.M. Battalion, 1884-85. Discharged on 28 August 1897.
