Peter MacFarlane was appointed Ensign in the 90th Foot, from the Royal Perthshire Militia, on 23 May 1811. He was promoted Lieutenant on 23 July 1813, and served with the regiment during its second visit to the Peninsula, October 1812 to April 1814, including the actions in the Pyrenees, battles of Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, Aire and Toulouse. He was wounded at Sorauren, in the Pyrenees, on 28 July 1813. Lieutenant MacFarlane was placed on half pay on 25 March 1817.
