Provenance: Glendining, October 1912.

Christopher Taplady was born in the Parish of St Anne’s, Cork, and enlisted there into the 69th Foot on 27 October 1809, aged 19 years, a Nailer by trade, for unlimited service. He was discharged on 11 March 1826, after 18 years 136 days, including 2 years for Waterloo, being debilitated from long service in India, where he was stationed from June 1820 to February 1826. He was a Sergeant for his last 12 years and 77 days service.
