Thomas Bready was born in the Parish of Kiln, County Cavan, and enlisted into the 47th Foot on 12 December 1809. He served with the 2nd Battalion in the Peninsula, including the battle of Vittoria and the siege and subsequent storming of St Sebastian, where it was one of the battalions that led the assault. He was discharged on 4 August 1814, in consequence of the amputation of his left arm at St Sebastian. Sold with copied discharge papers.
