Provenance: Christie’s, April 1979 and April 1991.

Francis James Douglas entered the 2nd Battalion, Coldstream Guards as an Ensign on 17 March 1814, and fought with them at Waterloo. He was thrown from his horse in St James’s Park, London, and died on 29 May 1821, from the injuries he received.
