Waterloo 1815 (John Gillman, 11th Reg. Light Dragoons.) fitted with replacement steel clip and ring suspension, edge with small holes drilled at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, suspension re-fixed, edge bruising and polished, good fine £1200-1400

Provenance: Glendining, May 1970.

John Gillman was born at Canterbury, Kent, and enlisted into the 11th Light Dragoons on 6 September 1813. He died in the service at Maidstone Depot on 22 July 1827, the regimental pay-list recording that ‘the Waterloo Medal of Private John Gillman has been given to Private John Bodkin, his cousin, according to his dying request’. Sold with copied pay-list entries.
