Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (5584 Pte. E. Carr, Rl. Dublin Fus.) slight edge bruising, good very fine £200-250

Edward Carr was born in Dublin. A Labourer by occupation and a member of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Militia, he attested for full-time service with the regiment at Dublin on 26 November 1895, aged 20 years. Imprisoned for theft in early 1896. Posted to the East Indies, October 1896-May 1897; South Africa, May 1897-February 1902; and once more to the East Indies, February 1902-October 1906.

During the Boer War he was slightly wounded in action at Colenso, 15 December 1899. In India he was dangerously wounded in action on 7 October 1903.

Transferred to the Army Reserve in December 1903 and discharged on 25 November 1907.

With copied service papers and roll extracts - the latter showing entitlement to the King’s medal with two clasps.
