Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Belfast (4419 Pte. W. Bradshaw, Manchester Regt.) service number officially corrected, very fine £350-400

William Bradshaw was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Manchester Regiment at Ashton, on 2 November 1894, aged 21 years, 6 months. Served in India, December 1896-November 1898; Gibraltar, November 1898-August 1899, and South Africa, August 1899-October 1902. Was wounded at Elandslaagte, 21 October 1899 whilst serving with the 1st Battalion. Awarded the Queen’s medal with three clasps and the King’s medal with two.

Transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1902 and discharged having completed his first period of service, 1 November 1906.
