William Warrener was born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire on 4 May 1868. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Marines at Nottingham on 4 July 1887. Served on H.M.S. Raleigh, May 1891-February 1895, taking part in the Gambia expedition, February-March 1894. Qualified as a Signalman in November 1891. With copied service paper and other research.
