East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, 1892 (Lieut. R. M. M. Davy, 1/W. India Rgt.) slight scratch to obverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine £320-360

Lieutenant R. M. M. Day, 1st West Indian Regiment served in the expedition to the Tambaku Country in Sierra Leone, being present at the capture of Tambi. Later as a Captain in the Gloucestershire Regiment, he served in the Second Boer War, being present during operations in Natal, 1899 and present at the actions at Rietfontein and Lombards Kop. Afterwards he was on the Staff and Station Staff Officer, July-November 1901. He served in operations in the Orange River Colony, November 1900-December 1901 and Cape Colony, December 1901. Awarded the Queen’s medal with clasps for Cape Colony, Natal, Orange Free State and South Africa 1901.

Recalled for the Great War he served in the East Lancashire Regiment. Serving in Mesopotamia, he was mentioned in despatches (
London Gazette 27 August 1918 and 21 February 1919) as a Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel. With copied gazette extracts, roll extracts and other research.
