Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, no clasp (34 Pte. J. Reddington, 1/Yorks. R.) edge bruising, some contact marks, very fine £80-100

John Reddington was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. A Cloth Finisher by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion South Yorkshire Regiment Militia, he attested for the Yorkshire Regiment at Leeds on 19 July 1881, aged 19 years. With the regiment he served in Nova Scotia, June 1882-February 1884; Malta, February-August 1884; Egypt, August 1884-January 1888 and Cyprus, February 1888-June 1889. In Egypt, he was present at the battle of Ginnis, 30 December 1885. Discharged on 18 July 1893. With copied service papers.
