Abyssinia 1867 (1018 Private Henry Rock, 26th Foot) later issue with naming encircling riveted reverse centre, suspension repaired, faint jeweller’s mark to obverse, very fine £180-220

Henry Rock was born in 1847 at Westminster. With the 26th Regiment he served in the Abyssinian campaign but deserted the regiment on 9 May 1869. Upon him rejoining, he was belatedly granted an Abyssinian Medal. Transferred to the 2/7th Regiment in India on 31 July 1874; discharged 31 May 1881.
