Canada General Service 1866-70, 1 clasp, Fenian Raid 1866 (1177 Pte. W. Hartwell, 2/17 Leic. R.) engraved naming, edge bruise, otherwise good very fine £300-350

William Hartwell was born in Watford, near Daventry, Northamptonshire. A Boot Closer by occupation, he attested for the 17th Regiment at Northampton on 7 January 1860, aged 18 years, 9 months. With the regiment he served in British North America, Jamaica and the East Indies. He claimed his discharge on 25 January 1881 at the termination of his second period of limited engagement. In addition to his Canada General Service he was in possession of four good conduct badges.
