Crimea 1854-56, 4 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol (P. Cody, 63rd Regt.) officially impressed naming, with ornate top bar, good very fine £750-850

Patrick Cody attested for the 63rd Regiment on 8 November 1852. With them he served in the Crimea, being severely wounded at the battle of Inkermann, 5 November 1854, suffering injuries to his leg and arm. He was transferred to the Rifle Brigade in April 1862, to the 69th Regiment in June 1870 and to the 1/60th Regiment in October 1870. Several times found guilty of drunkenness, his name appeared five times in the defaulters book and was three times tried by court martial. He served in the Crimea from 19 August 1854 to 1 June 1856 and in Halifax Nova Scotia and Canada from 2 June 1856 to 14 March 1871. He was discharged to a pension at his own request on 14 March 1871 upon the disbandment of the Royal Canadian Rifles.

With copied service papers and roll extracts. Another ‘Patrick Cody’ of the 63rd Regiment died on 19 January 1855.
