Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Balaklava, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Pvte. John Cornish, Scots Fs. Gds.), contemporary engraved naming, edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine £300-350

John Cornish was born in the parish of Kilkhampton, near Stratton, Cornwall, in June 1831 and enlisted in Scots Fusiliers Regiment of Foot Guards in June 1850. He subsequently witnessed active service ‘in the East’ between February 1854 and July 1855, being present at Balaklava, Inkermann and operations before Sebastopol. Invalided home in the summer of 1855, he was discharged as unfit for further military service, owing to heart palpitations.
