John George Stratton was born in Leamington, Warwickshire. He enlisted into the Rifle Brigade in 1893, aged 20 years, 8 months. Transferred to the Indian Miscellaneous List in 1901 and promoted Conductor in the Indian Unattached List in 1913. Was commissioned in 1922 and attained the rank of Major in 1924. Transferred to the Pension Establishment in 1927. With copied service papers and m.i.c.
